This one-day SAPEA conference explored new approaches to science for policy from a variety of stakeholder perspectives.
The conference was hosted by the Estonian Academy of Sciences in Tallinn.  It was closely linked to the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research’s conference week European research excellence: value and impact for society

Participants of the conference enjoyed stimulating talks.  A highlight was TV presenter and academic, Professor Brian Cox, speaking on citizen engagement.

Policymakers and politicians gave their perspective on how scientific advice is involved in decision-making.  Leading scientists discussed how they see the interface between research and policymaking.

Rounding off the conference, a panel discussed the role of NGOs and corporations in the provision of scientific advice for policy.
