Over the course of 2024, European scientists and diplomats joined forces in one of the largest Science Diplomacy co-creation endeavors ever. Five EU Science Diplomacy Working Groups, established by the European Commission, developed recommendations for a future European Framework for Science Diplomacy, the first joint strategic approach to Science Diplomacy in Europe. This event will present key recommendations of the working group on Making European diplomacy more strategic, effective and resilient through scientific evidence and foresight and provide an outlook on the future steps.
In an interactive world café looking at science advice to foreign and security policies in 2035, participants will then have an opportunity to brainstorm, create and discuss different scenarios and explore a set of unexpected or extreme events and their potential impact on the future of science advice in Europe and beyond.
This is a side event to the main SAM conference on 26–27 May in Vienna. It is hosted by the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance and registration is via their website. Registration for the main conference does not guarantee entry to this side event.
